Case Studies

Welcome to ViTelecom's Case Study Page.

Below we have listed some short case studies for some of our customers.
We are not your average run of the mill business broadband provider, we set our self apart from our competitors by being different, by talking to our customers
and helping them with not just connectivity needs, but also where required, their other communication requirements such as phone systems and network infrastructure.

Take a look at some of our previous works for our customers which may help you decide that ViTelecom service are the right way for your business to go!

  • Company Information

SIXT Rent a Car Ltd, is a well-established car and van rental company. The company offers premium car and van rentals at affordable prices catering to every customer’s transportation needs.

The company operates globally and has a reputation for providing high quality vehicles at affordable prices with a first-class service. No car is more than 6 months old and every car and van is cleaned, maintained and kept to the highest possible standard. SIXT have won multiple awards in the vehicle hire industry for excellence and quality of service.

  • Problems & Issues

SIXT use a highly secure external firewall system which is dependent on a stable and reliable internet connection. The system is also reliant on reliable and unique network configurations and connectivity.

When ViTelecom was approach by SIXT, the company was using multiple service providers across all their sites with inconsistent connectivity and unreliable support.

The service would regularly stop working which was due to a mixture of poor network infrastructure and unreliable broadband connectivity. We also noticed that there was not an adequate phone system in place across the UK with sites using analogue house phones as the primary phone system for each location. The phone system, network infrastructure and connectivity services across many sites was inadequate and lead to regular bouts of downtime and losses in revenue.

  • Proposed Solution

After discussing with the company their requirements and specific needs, ViTelecom proposed the following changes and fixes.

    • Transfer the connectivity service for all sites to ViTelecom. We would then check to see what services would be available for each site and supply the best available connectivity service to each site.

    • Switch the phone service to ViTelecom’s VT Hosted VoIP service. This would enable us to link each site on our platform making transferring of calls quick, easy and free. This would also enable SIXT to monitor calls and would reduce call costs as well as providing access to a host of other free services included with our phone system.

    • Allow ViTelecom to send in our engineering company VitalSAT to survey and redesign and stable reliable network infrastructure which would also be highly secure. We would also standardise the network across all sites making fault finding easier and faster.

    • A backup solution was also proposed that in the event that connectivity was to drop out, site with the backup would automatically failover.

Proposing this solution also had the added benefit of providing one point of contact for all of SIXT communication needs across the UK. If a site was to have an issue or need a change made to their service, they only need to call one company which is able to deal with any phone, broadband of network query or issue.

  • Implementation

The implementation of switching the broadband connectivity, installing the VoIP service and installing a new network in every site took around 4 months.

ViTelecom and its engineering department VitalSAT, worked closely with SIXT’s IT department in Germany to ensure every site was active and working to its best capability.

We started by switching the connectivity service from each provide over to ViTelecom. We installed new lines into every site which was tested and checked that the service was active and stable. We then sent one of our engineers to site to complete the second stage of the migration.

Each site received a new network and drawings / maps for each network were produced and sent on to their IT team to enable the to have a visual representation of the network which would help them trouble shoot issue at their end. We also split the network in to two, one site allowing SIXT IT full control of their side of the network and the other side managed and maintained by ViTelecom. At the same time the network was installed at each site, our engineers also installed the broadband router and phone system.

Once installation was complete and all connections had been tested, each site was switched over to the new ViTelecom infrastructure and service. Staff were trained on the phone system and their IT department gave access to their side of the network. SIXT also opted for our premium service meaning every site would have the additional benefits of live connectivity monitor, equipment cover, 24-hour call out for broadband connectivity issues as well as a host of other benefits..

Rhyal Engineering Ltd. c/o Esso Petroleum Co.Ltd

  • Company Information

Rhyal Engineering offers a COMPLETE SITE BUILT STORAGE TANK SERVICE.

From initial design discussions through to handover and commissioning their extensive experience, expertise and knowledge in the Design, Fabrication, Construction of Storage Tanks and Vessels ensure the safe and satisfactory completion of these Projects.

  • Problems & Issues

The Esso refinery at Fawley, near Southampton, is the largest in the UK and one of the most complex in Europe.

The site suffers with a poor broadband infrastructure and speeds only offering ADSL speeds of up to 4Mbps with an average of 2.5Mbps. This was not sufficient for the company to operate suffering with connection issues to Esso and Rhyals servers with low bandwidth and unstable connectivity.

  • Proposed Solution

We proposed one of our Business Satellite Broadband solutions to accommodate the site.

This service would offer speeds up to 50Mbps on one of our R&R kits. By taking an R&R kit the company would also benefit from ongoing support and maintenance on the services.

As this would be a satellite broadband service, we were able to guarantee a connection with faster speeds then their ADSL connection providing the system could get a clear line of sight (LOS).

  • Implementation

At the request of Rhyal, ViTelecom provided all insurance details and RAMS enabling our engineer to gain a permit of work at the site after sitting the induction.

The engineer quickly established where the system needed to be installed to gain the best connection. This was unfortunately on the roof of the building where the engineer was restricted from using his ladders to access due to health and safety however, with some assistance from Rhyal who was able to provide our engineer with a cheery picker and driver, he was able to complete the setup on the building.

The system was activated on the day and after a discussion with their IT team, all access to the router was left for the network side to be completed by their IT team.

Testing showed speeds of between 39 & 46Mbps on the service allowing their network to run much faster with no connectivity issues or bandwidth overload.

  • Current Status

Services provided from: December 2019 to current date.

The company still has use of the service and is happy with the performance.

We are now discussing rolling our services out across multiple locations across the UK.

Specsavers Watford

  • Company Information

    We've all seen the adverts!

Specsavers is a family-run business that has been trading for over 30 years, working together with their store partners to provide the best value optometry, audiology and other healthcare services for customers.

You’ll find them in the UK, Ireland, Netherlands, Norway, Sweden, Denmark, Finland, Spain, Australia and New Zealand, employing over 32,500 people who work across our 1,978 stores, as well as in their support offices and throughout the supply chain.

  • Problems & Issues

In September 2017 we were approached by Specsavers in Watford. The site was undergoing a refurbishment and required a new network infrastructure to host their new phone system being provided through one of our partners.

They have had previous issues using electricians to complete their network infrastructure and so decided to use a network certified company. The job was given to our engineering company VitalSAT.

The existing network would not be suitable for the new services being provided and for the existing Specsavers network. The site also required access points to provide a guest WiFi service to their customers and staff.

  • Proposed Solution

We proposed that their electricians run our network cable while running the new power cables. This would save time and cost.

We would then install and new 41U network rack to house all the Specsavers network equipment and servers. We would add a second 9U rack to house the phone system and connect the 2 rack via a patch panel uplink connection in both racks enabling all network ports in the building to be connected to ether network.

We would install 2 new wireless AP’s, one on the first floor and one on the ground floor to setup to separate WiFi networks. One for customers and one for staff operating on 2 separate internal IP ranges so that customers couldn’t access their main network.

Works would be completed over night to avoid disrupting their opening hours and general trading and customer interaction.

  • Implementation

Works were completed over the Saturday & Sunday night.

We relocated their CCTV system as requested, cleared up and relocated the telecoms distribution point, installed the new 41U network rack and 9U rack.

We worked with their main network supplier Fujitsu and their engineers to complete the Specsavers network installation and ensure that all systems were operating as expected.

We completed the phone side of the network setting up all phones with their individual call/hunt groups and training staff on how to use the system.

The new access points were installed and setup to spec providing a large wireless coverage for the store with a reliable connection.

The installation went according to plan within the set time frame, budget and to specification.

  • Current Status

Services provided from: October 2017 to current date.

The company still has use of the service through our partner and continues to be a valued customer.

  • Company Information

BH Sporting overseeing, managing, and providing client representative services for all project work (developments, refurbishments and general property advice) on high-end sporting estates and properties throughout the UK.

  • Problems & Issues

ViTelecom was approached by BH Sporting July 2016.

They manage high-end properties and estates across the UK which generally suffer with poor internet connectivity.

Hosting events for guests and providing adequate broadband for their staff had become an issue with a lot of locations having poor telecoms infrastructure or being in (Not Spots).

The company needed to be able to provide a stable, reliable connectivity service for their customer's estates and their guests.

  • Proposed Solution

ViTelecom looked at each location which required connectivity and proposed separate solutions for each site.

The solutions composed of a mixture of Leased Line services, R&R Satellite Broadband services and 4G connectivity.

This would enable us to provide the fastest most stable solution for each site.

  • Implementation

Installation for each site was done according to set time frames.

Each site received the service which was best suited to the site enabling them to receive a reliable connection with adequate speeds.

The installation process took around 3 weeks for sites that had our R&R satellite broadband kits installed. This was due to some site locations being in extreme locations which were hard to access and provide no mains power supply but instead ran from generators. Site access was also at time difficult due to location and communication issues where no mobile signal exists at a lot of the sites.

Sites with leased lines took around 3 months to install. This was due to Openreach lead times but is the average installation time for new leased line services.

Each site was configured to spec and was completed in budget and within the time frame specified.

  • Current Status

Services provided from: July 2016 to current date

Since July 2016 ViTelecom has provided Satellite Broadband and leased line services to multiple sites for BH Sporting across England.

The service are still in use and the company still uses ViTelecom to provide service to site where connectivity can be an issue.
